Can anyone tell me what this part is?
This thing broke, and it looks pretty easy to replace. Can anybody tell me what it is so I can name it when I go to the auto parts store?
One pic is close-up, other pic shows where it is in the engine compartment. |

In the first pic, the hose that's being held is from the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) valve. It is the vacuum hose that actuates the valve and connects to the thermovalve.

Well the hose was originally attached to the part you call the thermovalve, so I assume they're purchased together. However, on any of the car parts sites or google I'm not getting results for "thermovalve". Is it possible it has a different name?
Edit: Alright I found this part called a vacuum check valve, it looks very much like it. Is that the part I'm looking for? http://www.autopartsworld.com/1989_m...lve_parts.html Last edited by LittleB; 07-16-2008 at 12:34 PM. |

I'm pretty sure that they are Mercedes specific parts, while the hose is a standard vacuum line.

The hose connects to a piece of plastic i beleive, wich apears to have broken clean off. In the first picture, where that hose goes, the first half of that plastic comes off. If you cant find the part, take off the plastic thing, and use a glue appropiate for that hose and plastic and just put it together. It needs to be air tight im sure because I think it runs off vacuum. So glue, tape, whatever you think will work best. Did you check inside the vacum line for the plast piece? Maybe you can get it out and glue that back on, make sure you glue the outside after setting it in place so that yuo dont glue over the hole.
good luck
