Ignition wires / spark plugs question
I figured this question was already covered somewhere, but could not find it. If so, could someone point me to the discussion.
My understanding from what I've read is that my 1993 190E 2.6L is supposed to take resistor-less plugs, and has resistors built in to the wires. Since resistor-less plugs seem to be almost impossible for me to find, and since having double the resistance seems like it would be sub-optimal, wouldn't my best solution be to use readily available resistor plugs and change my wires for some non-resistor wires? Anyone see any problems with doing this? Does anyone have any recommendation on resistor plugs to use, or to stay away from? (For now, I just put in some cheap AutoLites from Autozone and gapped them to .035", and haven't changed the wires yet.) |

There is a thread in here about which ones to use. I think Bosch makes non resistor. I forget who I'm using currently but I got my spark plugs from auto zone. MB tried to sell me some Bosch plat 4+. I asked if they non resistor and they had no idea why I cared.
I used resistor plug and non resistor plug. I drive my car very aggressively. I didn't notice a diff in mpg or idle or throttle response time.
