Question Choke or throttle problems

Hi,
Last night on the way home, my throttle suddenly went really light and i noticed that, when stopping at junctions etc my revs would stick at about 2k then drop to normal idle if i blipped the throttle. When i did this, when i accelerated away the revs would seem to "race" a little and generally the car felt like it wanted to go faster than it should all the time, if that makes sense?
I was told by a neighbour that it could well be the autochoke and to drain and refil my coolant, which i did, but still the same problem today, anyone know if the autochoke is easy to strip and clean or maybe this is not the problem? It is worth noting that the radiator was replaced prior to me owning the car. Can anyone help as the car feels unsafe to use like this.
The car is a 1991 190e UK model.
