1990 190e 2.6
I just purchased a 1990 190E 2.5 5 speed with 143000 miles. It has a few problems... Both or the rear windows don't work. I have checked the switches in the center front console and they both work. I cleaned both rear door window switches. Any one have any suggestions as to why both rear windows wouldn't work? I also have a slight rust issue around the sunroof. What is the easiest and best way to repair the rust? This is my first Mercedes and I have alot of reading to do. So far I realy like the car. Craig

Rear power window failures = most likely defective regulators; do a forum search here and ye' shall find a treaure of answers
![]() Sunroof Rust = best left treated/worked on by a reputable body shop; may need a new sunroof tray too if the corrosion has spread to areas underneath, sight unseen Other than that, enjoy the 190E! That M103 engine in there provides more than ample power for daily use. Post pics when you get a chance!

I replaced a rear window regulator for my parents old '86 last year. The rear windows hardly get used and kind of weird that the first one to go out is the rear. With the older cars, it is a PITA to remove the door trim panels and due to age, the clips break easilly. Good luck.

Luckily the plastic clips that MB uses on the door cards are pretty hefty, so if they do come off, a hot glue gun is all you need to reattach them.

Thanks for the replys. I have done lots of reading about my 'new' car. Its nice to have the experience in this forum. I now have a manual and will attempt to remove a regulator to see if that is the problem. I have noticed aftermarket regulators are relatively cheap... but will they last?

1990 190e 2.6 rear windows
I finally had the time to dig into the rear window problem... The passenger side rear window regulator was bad, so it was replaced and now works fine. The drivers rear window regulator was fine but I found a broken wire between the door and the pillar. I guess it broke from opening and closing the door. I repaired it and now it works fine.
