Electrical Failure
Hey all,
Ive searched the forums and couldnt find anything related. I was driving home today, and suddenly all the electrical components of the car went out IE Turn signals, headlights, radio, climate fan etc. Then When I was pulling into my driveway the engine died (fuel pump due to elec. prob?). I tried cycling the key back and forth, and the warning lights came up as usual, but when i turn the key to start, it just takes a draw on the electrical system with no turning over of the engine... any ideas of what could be the problem? One thing that seemed to lead up to this was yesterday, the fan inside the car wouldnt suddenly click off, even when it was set to high... Thanks... Cory |

1) Battery
2) Alternator/Voltage Regulator After those items, it could be (not likely though) a ground failure. |

Check for corrosion on the battery terminals as well. Something as simply as this can cause havok on the electrical system.

I had the same problem 1 month ago. First time, they found that the battery was dead and it was replaced. But after driving 40 kmīs it happened again - exactly the same symptoms. So the generator was replaced, and everything is ok now.
First I didnīt understand why the battery-lamp didnīt light up both of the times. The reason, he explained, was that an error in the generator lead the power to the ground and not to the battery. The first time, the battery went down because it was to old and couldnīt stand the stress and died. The second time the battery was just flat and not dead, but the error with the generator made the car use all of the power from the battery instead of from the generator when driving. |
