I asked the drag guys if R compound tires would help from a standing start, and most said they wouldn't really perform that much better than your typical high performance summer tire (ie. PS2, Pzeros), which surprised me a little. They told me if I was simply looking for a tire to hookup out of the hole, you need to go with a drag radial, otherwise just stick with a non r compound (unless of course you want to track it). I'm going to settle on the Toyo T1Rs, but if I could get the R888s in 265/19 here in the states, I would have strongly considered that as well.
