The
Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) fund was created to give military personnel some sort of compensation for the sacrifices they make for country and family. The MWR fund subsidizes discount tickets to entertainment venues from Disneyland to a local movie theater; they use the funds to build gyms, pools, media centers, game rooms on bases and ships throughout the world. In danger zones, MWR provides funding to military units to create safe environments for sailors, soldiers, airmen, Marines, and Coastguardsmen to congregate in and blow off some steam when in deployed combat status. If you've ever been overseas and know what these guys go through, then you know how valuable MWR is to each and every servicemember. Free movie loan libraries, camping gear rentals, command and family pic-nics, welcome home celebrations, live video-teleconferecing with family back home, book libraries, magazine subscriptions, goodie boxes full of candy, toiletries, thank-you cards and much much more, are all the services MWR provides our troops.
