Been awhile since I've posted on mbworld but I've been looking at 05 CLK55s lately and the price seems right for what you get. $87K cars going for $27K!? I've always been a bargain hunter.

1. Can any of you veterans clue me in as to anything I should particularly be looking for when evaluating/inspecting/asking current owner re: one of these cars?

2. I'm undecided b/w coupe or cab. Other than personal preference is there anything I should know regarding the difference b/w them, e.g. ride quality, build quality issues, noise? I've generally been partial to coupes but as I've gotten older I'm revisiting the cab idea for some unknown reason.

3. The 2 I've looked at are just out of warranty. Is extended warranty worthwhile? I feel like I got one of the last well made MBs with my 99 E320 maybe because it was from the pre-Daimler era. How reliable should an 05 CLK 55 be?

4. I've always been partial to 6 cyl engines maybe b/c they just seem to sound smoother. V8s sometimes have a flapping noise to them (valves tapping?) - How is this AMG engine as far as noise it makes? I don't mean exhaust note but actual engine noise.
