A QUESTION ON CLK55 FUEL TANK LEVELLING

Does anyone know exactly how this fuel leveling system works on a CLK55 c209?
A suction jet pump which is located in the left side of the fuel tank pumps fuel to the right side to balance the levels.
There is a fuel level float on both sides of the tank.

I have installed a secondary inline motorsport fuel pump between the fuel tank and the engine which works well. The problem now is that the fuel leveling system no longer works because the suction jet pump is no longer pumping fuel to the right side of the tank.

Is the suction jet pump electrically powered? Or does it rely on delivery pump pressure from the intank pump?

Since the in tank pump is now feeding into the inline external pump it has no or low pressure.

Does anyone know the answer?
