If it's handling you're after and you're buying used then it's hard to beat the iS edition X5s. Our bought new 4.6 has been flawless in over 70,000 miles and you could buy the 4.8 version up until 2006 if you wanted something more recent...it's equally good.

No doubt the Turbo and Turbo S are much faster but the GTS (as you point out) has a stiffer suspension, ride height is lower, no turbo lag, has throatier exhaust note, and it is offered in a manual. On top of the fact he said a regular Cayenne S was sufficent in the power dept.. The Turbos are just too expensive.
