ALL water pumps have their impellers blended to with stand breif cavatation periods. It is an a trait that they must have due to the nature of their environment.
But nevertheless, having ANY air in the system, negates the advantage of the large tank

iirc (and i could be wrong) johnson only gives a 30 second window to run the pump dry. wouldn't happen in this environment but still warrants consideration.
