Ok, I got out my micrometer today and measured the distances between the bolts on the water pump pulley and compared them with the tool. It seemed the tool had the correct tollerances. So, I thought maybe the throat of the tool was interfering with the 36mm fan nut. I gound off just a little metal in the throat of the tool, and lo and behold, it worked! So, if you guys buy these tools and run into the same problem, just grind er down! Arrows in the pic showed where I ground a little material off.....
