NOW, the big question. Should I get the P30 or the P7? I have fired the P30 and loved it, but a buddy of mine who works for the S.O. ranted and raved about how accurate the P7 is when we were looking at it, and how it's a perfect gun for carrying. I already have my carry gun, so that doesn't really factor in. I just want to use it at the range like we do with the rest of our guns.

I have both.
You will get a MILLION different responses to this question. It depends entirely on your priorities. Here's my take on it:
The P7 is a fantastic platform with an amazing trigger but it will not last through a zombie apocalypse. The Gas blowback system needs to be very well maintained and cleaned after every firing (not kidding). It's also extremely complex, do not plan on detail stripping it without hours of frustration and staring at an armorer's manual trying to 3-hand the parts back into place. The only other issue is that it only carries 8+1 rounds.
It's very compact yet has a full length barrel and a maximized sight radius. This combined with the perfect SA trigger allowed a friend of mine, complete rookie shooter, to bullseye an orange at 40 yards in 3 shots. Whatever you carry, this would replace it.
Oh and did I mention that recoil is nearly nonexistent? You can one-hand this weapon better than most people can 2-hand their 1911's. It's touted as the best "gunfighter's gun" in existence due to the ability to shoot accurately from cover with only one hand. That said, I absolutely suck with mine and still need a lot of practice with it. I'm not used to an SA trigger, and it's different from the others I've used.
The P30 is a completely different monster. Hephaestus himself molded it for your hand and the 15 round mags are generous. Ergonomics are PERFECT. Not good, PERFECT. Recoil is extremely low and it is an absolutely beautiful weapon to behold. The standard trigger is lacking compared to the P7, mine required a trigger job before I'd even take it to the range. It also needs to be broken in with AT LEAST hot 124 grain ammo or you're going to be tattooing yourself with the brass that doesn't get stuck in the breach. The controls are very user friendly and the gun is far more accurate than I am.
Zimbabwe drills are an absolute snap with practice and the gun points exremely well. The picatinny rail allows you to mount a plethora of goodies (I have an insight M6 on mine) and you can get some good night sights for it. For now the decocker-only version is available as well as an LEM, but the P30S is close to release and will come with a standard safety. The long and ponderous DA pull was explained as a "substitute" for including a safety on the original version of the P30/L.
Hope that helps.
