96 280 sport fuel leak
Hi all I'm new to this forum. I just bought a 96 c280sport with 87000 miles on it and it looks like it just warped out of 1996. well just went to fill it up then parked it in the garage and there was more than a gallon of gas on the floor. then it stopped coming out. it looks like it was leaking right under the gas tank. there is a small hose that it was coming out of. any ideas what could be wrong?

Either bad overflow or return hose

Check your hoses, mine was also leaking last year. Bought the hose from stealership for $16 only.

Quick fix, likely just the overflow as mentioned which you can see w/o much difficulty. Easy to swap out except the MB hose clamps can be a pia depending on how they are oriented, I swapped mine with regular clamps.
Make sure your car is not completely full when you go to change the hose or you could be spilling more gas everywhere when you jack it up. |
