1995 C220 Trans problem...
Hey guys,
Having resolved my wiper/turn signal issue, I'm moving on to my next issue... I'm experiencing a very loud thumping/vibration underneath the car while accelerating from a stop in first and part of second. As speed increases it gradually disappears until it can no longer be felt. I also get a very loud "thud" when backing up and shifting from "R" to "D". I've read the flex discs could be the problem, but I've also read the U-joint could possibly be worn out. Any ideas?? Btw, I recently replaced both shifter bushings and that did wonders for the shifter feel and precision. Last edited by MarxM3; 09-19-2008 at 11:04 PM. |

any vibration should be taken care of at once. Vibration only loosens all other things. I'd check the "U" Joints 1st and go from there. Usually if the joints are gone the vibration will get worse as the speed increases. The whip in the drive shaft will not center the shaft and stop the vibration
