You can take excellent care of it, use the correct oils and fluids.

Not really cost effective to make it "faster", there aren't many things you are going to do to it that will make a big difference besides custom turbo etc. Almost better off to sell it and go for a c36 or c43.

You could drop some weight off it, and you will notice a little bit of a change, but for the most part you are just better of making sure everything is being properly maintained. Track time will also help

No, you cannot unless you want your engine to be a paperweight.

Even so, my earlier comment was not a joke, excellent maintenance can yield excellent improvements in performance, especially if the prior service was questionable.

I took your comment seriously. Too many people short change themselves using poor lubricants or stretching out maintenance.

I will be honest, I am not familiar with the C220 engine. But I'm sure there are some tweaks that could yield a modest boost in performance. Maybe some who has your engine will have made some mods.

Headers are one thing, also, there were two C230 models, with and without supercharger. It is quite possiblet that aftermarket headers for a 230NA engine will work on a 220. The fact is though that the 220 or 230 normally aspirated engines are very different from the forced induciton 230, which was heavily modified to cope with the stress of forced induction. If you look at the parts catalogue, no parts are interchangable.
