Random Wipers, Turn signals, exterior lights malfunction... Help please

Hey guys,

Im looking for a little help as I cant figure this one out on my own.
I have a 1995 Mercedes C280 that has 166k on it. I purchased it about 5 months ago from the original owner. The issue im having having is that the wipers turn on randomly for no reason what so ever. Sometimes only swing once, other times twice. The other issue im having is that the turn signals at times dont work when engaged but this is very rare, most times they work perfectly fine. Another issue is that the "exterior lights malfunction/out" light is on, but all of them are fine. Is this all related? Anyone have a solution? I've already tried replacing the wiper/signal combination relay with a refurbished one, is it possible that the relay wasnt fixed correctly? I havnt had the signal issue arise yet but like i said its rare, and the relay has only been in for a few days so it might come back to haunt me, however the wiper issue and exterior light issue is still present. The wiring harness was also replaced on the car about 40k ago by a Mercedes dealer if that helps with finding a solution.

same thing happened on my c class,i had to replace the wiper stalk,when i took mine off it was all melted inside,you have to take the stering wheel off to replace it,make sure you disconnect the battery and be carefull with the air bag

Thanks for the info! do you think there is any cleaning up of the wiring thats possible? or is it pretty much a "just replace the darn thing" job?

Have you replaced the wiper/signal stalk on the car?

youll probably have to replace the stalk,you can take the stalk apart and have a look at it and see if its melted heres a pic, the handle comes apart thats where mine was melted
