MAF finally starting to die @ 158,000 miles

my 97'C280 has never had the MAF changed since I bought it used at 75,000 miles. all I used to do was peridoically spray some MAF cleaner into it and let it dry. but just the other day I got the dreaded rough idle so I immediately placed an order for a new MAF for $133.00+ tax online.

I was just amazed at the life I got out of it. I see a lot of people on here where their MAF went out at 75,000 and not near 158,000..BUT the rough idle still persists after I put in the new MAF. I already changed the plugs.

what could it be if not the MAF?

codes showed up:

P0170 - fuel trim
P0130 - O2 Sensor
P1519 - manifold flap shut

Solution = O2 Sensor $230.00 from dealer

hope this fixes it.

It was probably replaced prior to your purchase.

I had to get one fast, I was on my last backfire. it stalled lots of time in traffic. I got it from the dealer in 24hours and swapped it out yesterday DIM (Did It Myself). I runs better than new now!!

I've come to realize that the these cars are like your comupters at home. you have to track down the bug and fix it. I now know that there are various things like:

coils, wires, plugs,o2sensors,maf, all can contribute to the rough idle. so as common sense goes...start with cheapest parts first. I already had replaced my plugs(bosch plats), and my boots were still good and my coils were still good. so when all of this started to happen I just moved to the next thing which to me was the maf. so I got that and it was still stalling. and finally the cel threw the code of the o2sensor.
