1999 c280 Odometer Problem - Please Help

Hey guys I have a 1999 c280 and the Odometer display just gave. I can see some numbers but they are cut in half. So I don't know how many miles I have on my car. Does anyone know how to fix this??

Also my windshield wipers don't work and more. I replaced the Motor but it stop working again.

Please help me out.

Do some searching and researching to learn more about shimming the ribbon cable connector that connects to the back to the instrument cluster at the odometer.

what does that mean?? Is it a part I need to replace or I can just fix the current one?
