W202 C220CDi - Acceleration issue/request for advise?

Good afternoon, I have enjoyed this forum for many years and after searching for any relevant information feel I have to ask a question. My mercedes C220 has suffered with leaking injectors which have now been resolved by a diesel specialist replacing the copper washer with a bigger one, he says it is a failure within the design. The issue I have is a strange noise coming from the the engine compartment when accelerating the best description is a clicking/ticking noise... My thoughts are turbo on it way,,, leak from exhaust? When I run the engine on idle and rev it up it all sounds fine which make me think it is turbo or something. Any advise would be appreciate or places to look for clues. Regards, Stuart
