i have 84 miles till i hit 50k miles and end of free maintenance. scheduled for next monday is my service A. although i had small probs here and there with the car, when i look back at the other cars i've driven and owned, other than the carpet stains, the car runs like the first day i got it (and smells the same too...) i've had it since sept. 2002 with 23 miles on the odo.

2002 C240 - 108,000 miles or 173,809 KM
We purchased the car brand new and intend to keep it until the wheels fall off. Our next car will probably be a E class diesel. |

2001 C180, 78000KM. Hold up really well despite the 19 inches and modification i've done during the half of the car's life.

03 C230 has 57,000 mi on the clock. I haven't had any major problems, and very few minor issues. Both my C and ML have been great cars!
My next car will probably be the 08 C-Class or an SLK.

I've got 03 C320 with 51,500 + miles and still going strong. Plan on keeping it and getting another MB (CLS 55) in a few years.

Quality was a large problem with the Mercedes car brand through the 04 model year. A sharp pencil boy (accountant) was left in charge while management conspired to snooker the Americans out of Chrysler. The warranty repair figures were a wake-up to the Schremp team that all was not well in der Vaterland. An engineer was brought in to shore up the quality, and he and the team members did a great job. Production was slowed, but a sales slump of about 20% in C class models helped prevent bulging inventories. The largest problems were with the electronics.
I don't see any problem with getting 100K clicks on the car with normal maintenance and a few brake jobs. I have 11,,000 miles on my wagon, and not a single problem beyond fog in the fog lights when delivered. They replaced the complete assemblies, and gave a free C240 loaner. The free carwash, back massage, and beverages at the dealer are not bad either. I bought the car because I expect 150,000 miles out of it. If the wheels fall off, I'll send a minion to fetch them, and put them back on! I see you're in Canada, where I understand that the Honda Element comes with a heated rear window, standard. It sure keeps your hands warm in the winter when you are pushing it! |

2001 C320 with 40,000 miles (65,000km), nothing major, just a few minor electrical inconveniences, all covered under warranty, none recurring once fixed. I intend to keep this car for 100,000 miles, minimum. If nothing major comes up, it will make it easily without any sweat.

I expected to keep mine for 10 years...my wife currently drove 31k almost 3 years. on a Oct-02 C240. That's when my daugther turn 16 and hopefully we will trade then for a brand new car for her mom...
but the new IS250/350 is so tempting... My Element is a shop/workshop more than a vehicle.

87K+ miles on an '01 320....no leave-you-stranded problems but too many take-it-to-the-dealer warranty problems (and some out of warranty) to list. Still feels solid and drives great. Best driving car I have owned, and worst reliability (when bought new). Probably hold onto it for a few more years but looking at other brands constantly. For me a car is transportation first....problems only detract from that equation.

![]() I have more than that on my 05! But Johnny's stats make me feel kinda better... I got my 05 in August of last year (04) and it now has 17820 miles. Problems: Hmm... peeling center console (replaced twice) rattling console (not fixed) rattling speaker (fixed) flickering BIX (still not fixed) leaky tranny H/K Audio issues (fixed hopefully) lots of stone chips in the front, the new paint is soft now, rough idling and check engine light My w202 which I had for 7 years and put 70k miles on didn't have this many issues. I really like the car, it handles well and is a lot more fun to drive than my w202... but in terms of reliability, I dunno.
