Hey man...if i need to be a big showoff...I won't do it in the States!...I come from a country where a S320 (my family have 1) cost more then 1 SL55 !...and guess what i am driving there??...SLK 230K....am i boasting away again??..no....i didnt even list those cars...
hey Xeon... just wondering where you were from...
my home country also has very high taxes on cars...
the base S's and C's cost as much if not more as the AMG's in the US>

I am actually a Malaysian, but has residence in both Singapore and Malaysia.

Update you guys some prices on cars over there.

In Malaysia
SLK 230K ---> RM400,000 / 3.8(Exchange Rate) = 100,000++ USD
AUdi A6 2.4 (Latest acquisition)
280,000rm = 73,000++ USD....

In Singapore,
we bought a SL 320 (the old one) a few years back at its peak price.... around $500,000 SGD= 270,000usd (with regards to the exchange rate then)

just sold a 6 yrs old volvo 850-T5 for $60,000 SGD = $32,000

well.....actually....one of the few things i like abt the states is..the prices of cars!!!!

P/s: c230k is selling for 100,000++ USD (same price as SLK)

o ya...

if the AMGs are selling for the State's price in singapore...i don' t think they will have enough stock for US....because....at Orchard Road (A shopping strip in Singapore)...i GURANTEE you at least a Bimmer or Mercedes at the traffic junction...and i mean 1 way of the traffic junction....

and if prices are the same...no one in Singapore will buy a Nissan Sunny (sound happy..doesnt it)....cos it cost...$45000 usd...what type of car?? sort of like the toyota camry level?

NOTE: i am not saying that consumer in US has low purchasing power ( i will be an idiot if i say that)...i am just posting replies to calvin..and then....my blood boils..and so here am i..crapping away... ENJOY UR CARS!!!!!!

Sounds like the pricing i've seen in the Philippines. My grandparents are still out there and my parents have bought a few cars there too. The wierd thing though is that most people pay cash for their cars, they hardly finance it. Is it the same over there?

Sounds just like it huh. Pesos in the P.I. really decreased in value alot... Whats the ratio these days? 52:1. Thats a big increase since i was there in 92. It was 24:1. I can imagaine how hard it is to buy cars in asia.

BrabusCclass are the tips on your custom exhaust the same as the (single) one that comes with the sports exhaust system on the C230 Evo pack.....they look like it and if they are then that is what I am after.
Also no one over here seems to have sussed the tape over the front grill trick....perhaps another way to individualise my car (when it comes!!!)

What is a Evo pack? I have no idea what that is. Hehe. My friend refered me to a shop to get it done. It is quite expensive since AMG does not make any tips. Lets just say I have C280 C230K AMG cat back exhaust for sale with no tips. LOL! I do feel an increase in power since I have more free flow. It helps on the freeway. Xeon email me and I can give you exact instructions on how to make it.

I have notice that some people said you will lost power when you change the muffler. I am not saying any particular muffler. Is that true?

moscit,
nice combo-C230 and 900 Monster. My choice exactly! Just finished painting my 01 900Sie. What a fun bike-and car!

On carbed or low-tech fuel injected vehicles you can loose power with a low restriction exhuast, but I would guess most cars these days have enough variablity in the fuel injection cal that putting a new muffler on isn't going to hurt you.

As for the monster 620, I suppose it'd be alright. I have a buddy with a 750 that he really likes, and thkn the 620 puts out almost the same power? My monster of choice is the two valve 900 with carbs. Had a '95 900ss (same engine) and loved it, traded it in on a 996 and have to say there are days I'd rather be on the 900...

I've also got a 907ie, which may be on the market this spring so i can pick up a used Monster! :p

Young,
The 620 is a great bike. Only about 4 or 6 hp down from the 750. Very light and easy to ride. Only has a single disc on the front, but that is not an issue. Still has plenty of stopping power. It sure is priced right, too! If you can find a used one, it will be a real bargain. If you get one, I will give you all the tricks to get the most out of it. It is kind of like the C230 of the motorcycle world- an awesome bike for the money.

Spyke, cool website. As I've gotten older, I've pretty much given up the torture rack sportbikes for other stuff like the Monster, and Superhawk. I just sold a carbed 99 900 Monster (jetted, filter, exhaust, sprocket, etc) and it really didn't feel any faster than the 900ie. My ST2 had a chip, and it made a difference, but I think I will just do the sprocket on the 900, and leave it at that. Here is a picture of it with the C230 in the back.

Nice to now there are others in the community that have the same taste in two wheelers.

The Monster is a sweet bike great styling, awesome torque, and nice riding position.

Nothing compares to a 90 degree desmo v-twin!
I just got the Termignoni pipes with a ECU and wow do they unleash the Monster!

GO BAYLISS!!!!

speedfrk, is that a 2000 or 2001?

Norm 32, nice bike!

Young, pick one up as soon as you can.

I'll post mine up as soon as I get pics developed.
Can you believe I've had it for 1.5 years and took the first picture of it last week!

It is a 2001 900Sie. Painted black with a silver stripe down the middle of the fender and tank, and pinstripped in red. Did you dyno your bike before and after the pipes/chip? Just wondering what the gains were.
