M111 Oil Catch Can
Does it have sense to add a oil catch can on the M111 engine?
I use to have oil on the next places, replacing the rubber solves the problem for a time, but I think some oil goes back to the intake.
By the other hand there is a small pipe that goes to the S/C, anyone knows what is that?
If I put the Oil Catch can which is the best way; in the valve cover vent or in the crankase vent?
Thanks

Well, the big plastic thing IS the oil catch.
The hose going to the SC is a drain, it sends it to the SC...
guess thats OK, and in turn it burns it off I guess.
If you overfill the oil, it will suck into this thing and into the intake making a mess of things a bit.
In the 1st pic, that hose is a POS and requires frequent replacement,
last one I bought was 10 bucks? No biggie.
Main thing is never overfill !
Last time I had this thing out, I had the brass insert coming out...
superglued that in, and also replaced the round red gasket where it stuffs into the SC, sealed much better.

Anyone has the M111 intake diagrams?

Yup, thats it. Excess oil goes to the intake and the SC.
Diagrams?
You could look on the epc if you wanted but for what?
It's gonna suck oil, no way around it unless you bypass the crankcase
vent to something else...I've seen that.
Just clean the MAF every once in while, get the oil out of it,
you'll be fine.

I was not sure to put the oil separator to the crackcase vent or to the valve cover vent.
It's strange that they send some oil to the S/C...
Thanks for you answer.

I had the problem once where the hose you show in pic #1, cracked.
In the process a small piece of that hose, clogged the small one going to the
SC. That resulted in a giant mess, which was cleaned up under warranty.
Point being, looks like your hose is needing replacement.
And 2nd, make sure that little hose isn't clogged.
I checked mine when I replaced the SC recently, and was going to replace that small hose, but checked it, and it was clear, so I just reused it.
How does your car run lately?
I remember the video you made of the belt and pulley making an odd noise.
I replaced the pulley and tensioner the one time and haven't had any problem since.

Love how some of the pics shown are mine, and I never got asked for them to be used....Regardless I'll answer.
This is a complicated issue. Right now, I don't have a straight answer, but I can provide clues.
Wait, Gin time....
Ahhh, tall glass of G&T, and I'm ready....
Wait, roll up sleeves.....
Okay...
I installed a Cusco Catch can between the Valve Cover vent and the Black manifold. I kept the S/C vent tube hooked up, and I NEVER got a drop in that can.
Yet, I still to this day get oil in the intake.
My guess is that the oil gets sucked up from the tube that is suppossed to return the oil back to the crankcase. I'm guessing it happens if you overfill the oil, and on exceliration it can be pulled up.
I guess, I never thought to put the catch can in the line to the oil return tube to the crank case, so this could be process of elimination. So, give me some time and I'll rehook the thing up to the crankcase vent tube, and I'll give you an answer.
I advise you to check the big hose that is attached right before the throttle body. Mine looks like it somehow has oil seeping. Just a thought.
