i was leaving sears auto, they had just installed 2 brand new tires and done my alignment, and it was rainng like crazy in ft. lauderdale

i was in the mall parking lot and it was like a lake,

right at the end of the puddle, i gave it alittle gas to get out of the puddle, and some water went as high as the hood, and the car hydrolocked

the force was so hi, it pulled off the lower center mesh

i dontknow what to do. its 9pm now, on a friday, nothin g is open
in the AM i was thinkin of taking it to dealer

other option is on monday take it to my local service place, ulitmate euro in davie....

so the car is home now? it still runs??? im sure your indy can "blow out" the water somehow... if you can drive it home ok i wouldnt worry to much... as long as you dont have a cold air intake... as it sucks the water in like a straw.

we all learn from our mistakes g luck man let us know what happens

Hopefully your car insurance covers flood damage.

Take the plugs out, crank it over to get the water out. Hope you have not bent a conrod. Replace the plugs. Change the oil & filter. Dry out the inlet system - fit new air filter. Try & get it to start. Take it for a long hot run to evapourate all water out of the system if it will run. Otherwise its head/heads off.

No it won't start until you get the water out - remove the plugs!

Maybe it's a hard task to vdubpower, as it sounds intimidating to even touch the engine..

have it towed to your mechanic
remove the plugs and crank the motor

should start.
If it is bad your insurance will cover a replacement, used or rebuilt.
If so maybe look for a M112K long block?

damn that sucks. Something similar happened to my friend. He had a cai and drove over a deep puddle and his car hydro locked. He got lucky though. He waited an hr or two and cranked it again and the car started up, but it was a accord though.

Shouldn't be too bad, especially if you shut it down upon seizing...I have been on plenty of 4Wheelin' trecks and hydro-locked Jeeps...Wait a bit - Grab lunch...Pull plugs, cold crank it...Reinstall plugs and fire it up!

Good luck

CAI = Cold Air Intake

Listen Bud, Thats the MAF inlet. The main inlet to the manifold that goes into your engine. If thats full of water, likely the manifold & a couple of cylinders are as well.

You need help. If you are uncomfortable at plug level then get some help. You need to get the plugs out & then turn over the motor to blow all the water out of the plug holes.

Please get help. If your insurance will pay then leave it to them to arrange. This is not like playing with a wet Jeep crude banger. You can do a lot of damage. I just hate it standing there full of water. If you can get help with getting plugs out & then pump out the water that would help.

Good Luck

everyone, thanks for your help and advice

the status right now is that i cant do anything until i guess insurance agent gets back in touch with me.

It being the weekend, all i could do was get the claim started.

so i assume probably not until mid week will the car actually go to a shop

need to decide i it sould goto the local place i service it at , they work on euros only, or let it goto the dealer

if the insurance is paying for it i would go to the dealer because they have a 1 year warranty on all their work. if you are paying for it i would go to your local shop. gl i didn't know that insurance would cover something like this. hope your inspection goes well.

take it to the shop as soon as claim is started, adjuster prefers to see car at shop, it is faster and easier to see damage, plus it gets fixed faster.
