Canister Purge Valve?

Took my 300 C in today for my 1-3K inspection & was told that the canister purge valve was likely the cause of my cold start-up knocking. Anybody know of this part, it's location? This knock is not of the noisy valve train variety but sounds like a bottom end issue.

Purge valve is up front on right side of engine.

Kinda coincidental: I've got a 2006 Monterey Red C6 coupe w/cashmere interior

Seriously, my manual specifies first service at 1y/15,000 km, except for C63 @ 3000 for diff oil change.

And, re the C6, have you considered going to Spring Mountain Motor Sport Ranch? best time you'll ever have and still be all dressed up

In Europe it would be still different, I had my first service for the W221 at 30500 km and almost two years.

This caught my eye.

Is this knock just 1-3 times on startup? My C300 started doing this and my '01 C320 M112 V-6 did it for the 7.5 years I drove it. Never blew up but after while you begin to wonder.........

Exactly, but only at cold start-up (regardless of ambient temperature) or after it sits for maybe 1-1/2 to 2 hours. It never repeats immediately after the initial start-up (until it cools down again of course). Mine has done it consistently from the first morning after purchase on.
