"Correct Tire Pressure"

So ever since i got the car 1 month ago, that message has been popping up on my center display. i checked the manual and the explanation was "one or more tires has different pressure than the others". so since it wasnt like an emergency situation...i waited for a while. then last night, i dragged myself to the gas station and they were all set at 40 psi. i expected them to be over inflated, so i let out some air on all 4 to match the sticker on my door. 33 fronts and 38 rears. i then reset the tire pressures.

well after driving less than 2 miles, the message came back. anyone else have this problem or am i reading the gas station pressure reader wrong.

mine comes up every now and then too, but my tire pressure seems normal. For me, I think because my driveway is at a slope, therefore making the tire pressure different. Just my assumption.

I had same occurance. Just reset again immediately whenever you see the message. You will be fine.

It's really best to do the pressures at home in the morning, when the car hasn't been used for hours and it's cool out.

Any driving, makes the pressures go up a lot, so then you take out way too much air.

what kind of tires are you using? on my c350 i have continentals and the correct tire pressure is 29 front 31 rear. usually if you inflate them more than that, the sign for 'correct tire pressure comes on.

Wow -- I run 34 in the front, and 37 in the back. The recommended is 32/35, but if over 100mph, add 5. So I halved it ;-)...

The only occurance of the correct tire pressure, etc light that came on for me was when I had a tire rotation and they "forgot?" to change the tire pressures. The system wasn't happen with more air in the fronts than the rears at all...

Put Nitrogen in instead of air

First thing I did after driving off the lot is head to a tire dealer and had them put nitrogen in instead of air.
Read up on it, its a lot more stable than air and I have never experienced an air pressure warning.

Had them in my prior Volkswagen as well, I also had it done to my wifes car, a Toyota Yaris, as I said, check it out on the web!

My alert comes up every time I drive the car since the season changed. Next week i hope to get in for my 13K checkup and am planning on having the TPMS sensors checked out then. What does the nitrogen fill cost ????

Correct Tires Pressures

Make sure you check your pressures when you have not driven for 4-5 hours. My pressures are 32 front and 35 rear. I use a digital readout gauge that was recommened over a manuel one. You will find that most of the cheaper gauges are usually off by quite a bit. Once you set the pressures then use the reset in the dashboard as the new set point. Make sure your spare has no monitor in it because that will also give you a low pressure warning . I have seen this problem in a few of my friends cars Good Luck

i set the tire pressure after not driving it for like a week.

and then i drove about 10 blocks to the nearest gas station. i guess ill have to go in for the 1000 mile free check up which is suppose to include tire pressure updates.

Where are you getting those tire pressures from?

I also have the 18" Conti's and my fuel fill door indicates what was mentioned in this thread also of 32 fronts and 38 rears. Or something in that nature, don't quote me on the specifics might be 33 fronts.

I personally use an anolog pressure guage set them to the indicator on the fuel fill door and then reset the dash whenever I see that warning come up. With the variation in temperatures now you will certainly see this warning come up. Also car in a driveway at an angle will not trigger this light.

No, it doesn't feel any different when driving after replacing the air with nitrogen, it was $4.00 a tire here in central Virginia.
