$775.00 for an underdrive pulley???? That's insane!! And 15 HP gain isn't a lot with just a pulley...I've put pullies on a couple of cars and they will pick up about 15-30 HP typically

I for one am glad to see a pulley available for our cars. Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen one yet for the W204. $775 for a pulley seems high, but if you can provide a dyno that shows a 15HP gain on the C350, I'd seriously consider it. That and a ECU tune would get us close to 300HP!

I hope you have passed the basic maths exams and know where the extra power comes from and at which conditions. Let me suggest something, take the old pulley out, take the belt out and leave them off. Now test how much more power the car actually has, and at no cost. It all is about a compromise and it only helps for "dynamic power" when the engine revs up, nothing to gain at steady speed if you drive the engine at steady RPM at full speed on an autobahn. But it is your money, good for the economy if you spend a bit of it.

I'm not familliar with pulleys, but I think Diesel Benz raises a good point. So the power comes from the AC, alternator, power steering, etc.?? In other words, we will be taking power away from these systems to put it into the wheels??

It would be good (especially for people like me who don't know that much about it) to dicuss the downsides and side effects of a mod like this. Forgive me for being skeptical, but if changing the pulley size is just gains, I believe MB engineers would've figured it out.

The idea of an extra 20hp from $750 sounds very good, but I think there is more to the story. Please explain.

There is no free lunch. An underdrive pulley will add performance under acceleration but will cost power to the accessories all of the time.

You have to try one to know if it's suitable for your driving style.

Oh the price, outrageous when considering the probable markup from manufacture cost but its marketted on a per perceived HP gain.

I tried underdrives on my old Miata, it added some fun but also cost the PS, AC, and some cooling benefits.

I agree with being glad parts are being made for our cars but as others have said not at the cost and these tuners are really missing their mark. This is not me being a cheapskate either but being more responsible with money as I get older and saying "hey I mine as well just move up to a more powerful and nicer used Mercedes model when all is said and done with an ECU, pulley, and headers($5k easy for parts only)".

If I wanted to spend $775 on a pulley I would have had my guy that is a machinist/engineer make me one a long time ago as a one off. But a part that is being sold in quantities for a one off cost just doesn't make sense to me unless I am missing something?

As for this pulley I believe it isn't an underdrive style but just made of aluminum and lighter weight. All a machinist has to do is reverse engineer a factory pulley for the specs. Not a whole lot of engineering involved for the high cost.

The other downside is the labor involved and that has to be considered in the overall cost. Maybe I am anal on doing things right but no way I am getting my pulley off by any means possible which means I need to buy the right tool or just go to an independent shop and hope they do a good job. Either way we are looking at another $100-200 easily.

According to their website (AutomotiveDezignz.com) the V6 version "up to 12+HP", so I'm not sure where the 15-20HP gain he said is coming from. Even their C63 version says up to 12HP. Neither refer to torque.

I think we're going to need to see a dyno sheet.

Also i was not the one who had edited the website..our website is still sorta new and i apologize for any inconvenience.. as we all know EACH car is different and with different MODS every car will have different GAINS!! =)
Our car we tested will be posted very shortly so everyone can see what this one C350 was able to accomplish..

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to the dyno sheets and other specs you can provide like weight comparisons. Is the diameter the same or is this pulley underdrive the accessories a bit?

Great question Krytech i will contact you and let you know on weight as well as post on this thread..ASAP

Dyno Sheet should be posted shortly i apologize for the time it is taking..
Results Vary depending on Modifications to your car- we claim 12HP to be safe (not to say it may very well be an understatement on some vehicles)

should be able to post later tonight-

also.If anyone has done a dyno on there car and are interested in this pulley please contact me us =)

STILL no weight specs?? how much does it weigh if it is lighter? Also confirm if underdriven or not, interested for my 350. Also where is the before dyno? that just shows after, no proof of the 11-12HP. Thanks

Ryan, I like the pulley is a little pricey but it is what it is, I also would like to see a lightweight crankshaft and flywheel.
