[quote=Merc63;3775393]LOL!

Put 275s on the rear, and get SOME GOOD TIRES. I don't have any problems with grip unless I use ****ty tires with a high tread wear and I got 70 more HP than you.

AWD would totally kill this car.[/

I thought about getting some 19s with 275s but I still don't think that will solve the issue with the serious lack of grip. Fender flares are not an option for my eyes. BTW...the C63 is not a sports car, it is meant to be a highly-capable sports touring sedan. If I wanted a sports car, I would have chosen some other vehicle, like a Porsche.

I strongly believe that AMG considered this lack of grip issue when detuning the engine in the first place. The only question is: why didn't they offer wider rear tires in the first place. I think that is as much to blame as the need to differentiate the various Classes via price (i.e. more expensive model gets more hp).

I am not sure about you guys, but I live in New England, and I find the that effective prime driving season is pretty short. Regarding the "stomping on the gas" comment of another user, if you go to pass someone at 35 miles/hour on a 50 degree day and the traction control light comes on during the downshift, I personally classify that as a problem and waste of power.

Also, for anti-AWD crowd, offering 4-matic as an option is not going to ruin the vehicle for anyone who does not want AWD, it will just give us guys in the colder regions a more versatile driving option. BTW...AWD seems to work pretty effectively for the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Nissan GT-R.

Just offering an alternative viewpoint that might lead to more AMG sales in the Northeast/North.

Just look at the RS 6. More power than the E63 or the M5 and it is slower in just about every way.

They can keep their all wheel drive systems.

Sorry to hear you are selling your car.
I hear your comments, but bravado aside, if you are driving a 500hp+ car (M5, etc.) on a cold, wet, winding mountain pass, I think you would learn to appreciate having the AWD...very confidence inspiring!

It seems Mercedes has heard my complaints :p (and probably a thousand other Mercedes buyers).
When I was in Sindelfingen picking up my car I wrote in a complaint that my Peugeot had a leather dash and it was unavailable on Mercedes.. why?

You guys have to check out the C 63 forums. They are "decompressing" over the US availablilty of this Yes, too good to be true and it is TRUE package, called P31 (P30 is gone now) for C 63 2010 production starting December 2009. Its a $5,500 option and is going to be available with ALL of the mods I described over three weeks ago. Some are just slow on the uptake BUT us C32/C55 guys saw it here first and commented on it extensively. Man, this has me hankering for a C53 P031 package. I'd be really really crabby if I had just taken delivery on a P030 C63 and found out this was available in two months?? Ouch!!
