How to tell if the top speed limiter is removed?

I have my ecu tuned by powerchip and was wanting to know how and if I can tell I have the top speed limiter removed as I don't plan on trying to find out on the highway lol. In theory can I put the car in neutral and mash the gas and see if it cuts out in the high rpm? Also in an untuned car when in neutral does the motor cut out when revving at redline or does it just revv to a certain rpm and that's it? Ok so I just went out to my car and put it in neutral revved it and it would barely go past 5000 rpm. The engine did not cut out and just kept revving at 5k. Do non tuned cars do this as well? Thanks guys!

Revving your car in neutral won't tell you if it's been de-limited or not. You need to have the car rolling or at least thinking it's actually going that speed.

Dyno is the safest way, but there are others.

You do realize how unbelievably stupid it was to find out how many RPMs you could achieve in neutral, right?

It's a hell of a lot easier to damage your engine in neutral than it is in drive. You are lucky the neutral rev limiter wasn't removed.

+1 on your an idiot for revving your car in neutral.

If you don't plan on driving over 135 MPH then why would you even care if the speed limiter was removed?

I am think about this but when trying to find out on the highway for this issue . I put the car in neutral and mash the gas and see if it cuts out in the high rpm. And other way to check with personal car.

Dyno is your only option if you don't plan on running it to max speed. Why are you concerned about it? You'll never use it unless you track your car or pull an OJ.
Make sure you have the proper speed rated tires.
Be safe.

If your transmission is not engaged, you do not want your engine free spinning as fast as it can! Either put it on a dyno or drive it as fast as you can. There are no shortcuts here. I don't even notice a difference in my shiftpoints in S mode after my chip tuning, it's 7,000 now and it was 7,000 before. This is really the most retarded idea I've seen in awhile.. I mean it's retarded in every conceivable way.

You have a serious problem in more ways than one might think.

This is not the first time I've seen you bytch and moan when your posts arent' flooded with responses in the first few minutes. Get over yourself, the world doesn't revolve around you. Why don't you go back to your car, free rev it and imagine that you're going 160 mph like Peabody. lol
