What are the gains on a C300 ? (whp/tq figures?)

And is there a difference in what gets done between Kleeman and renntech?

I spoke with James today about the Kleemann tune for a c350 and he said I should be expecting 12-15 to the wheels. Not sure about a c300 though. One would naturally assume that it should be around those number, but only slightly less due to the smaller engine.

Yeah, probably a bit less then like you say (i think that also).

So for me 10whp DOES NOT constitute $800 let alone $1300... honestly the cars a snail.. whats 10whp really going to do anyway

curious

i'm curious about the hp gains on a C300 (4matic), also does the ecu tune eliminate throttle lag? what happens if the dealership reflashes it? also what kind of time slots will there be?

He's setting up shop in brooklyn, and he definitely said that it will eliminate the throttle lag. No need to go to the stealership to have it done. If they do, I've seen in other threads that he'll reflash it for you free of charge.

The C350 has 30 crank hp on the C300, but it definitely feels peppier than the C300. Since the numbers he was quoting me were whp, I think it's safe to assume a 20 crank hp increase. That might not be enough for you, but it'll definitely make it more go. He was quoting me on the Kleeman, so it's only 795. It's your car and your decision.

The 300's will gain roughly 10whp, removal of the speed limiter and better throttle response.

Cost/ Value is subjective to each individual. Somepeople install a $1400 exhaust system with no power gain, just for the sound aspect. To some it is worth it, to others its a waste of money.

As for the gains, you'll receive roughly a 10% increase over your currently horsepower output. For $795, i don't think its that bad of an investment.

For those who have concern about the dealer reflashing your ECU, yes reflashes are free, and once the Brooklyn office is open, you will not have to ship to ECU to California for us to reflash it, Colorado for a Kleemann reflash, or Florida for a RENNtech reflash.

Even a 10whp difference is a substantial gain, especially at the price that is offered, it is not a bad deal at all.

I've driven a C300 with similar miles, the car definitely needs some power. Putting it closer to the C350 in power is worth it for the cost, imho. I was incredibly glad I picked the C350 instead of the C300 after that whole driving experience.

If you're ever in Hawaii for vacation and willing to do a tune on the side, let me know!(assuming that the necessary tuning gear is just a computer + dyno)

20 whp is a big difference then 10... its double... so we have 2 conflicting numbers in this thread by people doing the work?

Is it 10whp give or take a couple, or is it 20 whp give or take a couple..

Maybe James can clarify this by providing a dyno chart with just the ecu tune. Is that possible?

+1 that would be huge, and justifiable.

We can see where the gains are too... like if we see 13whp gain between 2800-4000rpm - or only 4whp from that span and a +10whp OVERALL gain... so much a dyno can show which would be nice and important.

Dunno why anyone's more concerned about the HP increase... most likely the gains will be small, and in the top end... a moot point for city drivers.

I'm more interested in the torque numbers. If those gains are significant in lower rpm range then that will be a better selling point.

Regardless, I wouldn't even bother with an ECU tune unless I was planning on updating other performance components (headers, exhaust, etc.). Then an ECU tune would be able to maximize the overall performance gains.

Still... it's nice to have options.

Drives: A few cars.
In the N/A cars that I have had chipped or reflashed, the HP gain is minimal. The important benefits I noticed were the improved throttle response, mileage increase and overall smoothness of the engine. And, with a manual transmission, the gains are even more evident and there is no need for a TCU flash.

James makes a good point regarding the cost. I think $800 to $1300 for a for a 5% to 10% increase in Hp and Tq (if that's the claim) is not that expensive.

your right lets see some number charts. I was told that they did not do a Dyno with a C300 with the Kleemann ECU Tune.

I like the part about removing the speed limiter. Is that possible by itself and at a lower price?
