Smashed lower front bumper... options?
My wife had an accident with the brand new 2010 C300 Sport and smashed the lower front bumper, 3 weeks and already looking at >$1500 repair, great! Pic attached for your viewing pleasure.
What replacement options do you recommend, other than the obvious MB replacement part.
I am considering any quality aftermarket lower bumpers. The lights, etc all survived. I don't love the look of the lower bumper, so aftermarket is fine.
Can I just pop on a C63 bumper +/- new brackets? ie. will the c300 fog lights fit in there? I prefer that look to the standard sport package.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Regards,
Brian
P.S. I told her to get the GLK 350!

WOw, I would be soo angy, I dont understand how womens can be so reckless with our toys like that. I dont know any off the back if there are aftermarket bumper, which I am sure there is. I dont beleive the c63 bumper will fit on our C. Good Luck!

you won't be able to just swap in a c63 bumper...you'd also need the fenders and hood as the c63 bumper is wider. Also I believe the fog assembly is different. You're better off getting a stock C300 bumper, one of the c63 replica for non-AMG 204 bumper, or going with a front kit bumper like Brabus, Carlsson, Wald, or Lorinser.

Wow, she really did a number on it. Was this from a parking stop or something more substantial? Did it shear off that clean or did you have to clean it up a bit(remove dragging bits and pieces, etc)

It is not clear why it shattered the way it did, but it was frigid cold that night and I'm guessing that the impact simply shattered the plastic bumper cover like glass. Fortunately the fog light is intact and functioning, one less thing for the insurance company to replace. I'm sticking with the mercedes parts. Thanks for the input.

There are some aftermarket C63 bumpers that claim to fit, but most likely they require some playing around (cutting or shaping) to make it fit, and also they are made of FRP (also known as fiberglass) which is a material that is brittle and cracks easily.
I would stick to the OEM sport bumper, I think it looks better than the C63 bumper and any other aftermarket bumpers.

The picture isn't showing but it sounds terrible! I was upset for days after scraping the bottom of my bumper on a concrete parking block. :[ Hope you get it fixed man. And yeah, as others have mentioned, I'm sure the C63 bumper wouldn't fit. I'd go with the normal sport bumper as well.

It was too depressing to look at any more, so I deleted it.
The bumper sheared off immediately below the passenger fog light from the edge of the center screen insert all the way to the wheel well. There was some spidering of the material around the impact site and both screens were broken. I'm probably getting the Carlsson metal grill inserts (~$500), with the old sport bumper. It looks like it will be about $2k or so.

Something to keep in mind....
204-200-00 Brabus Front Bumper $1,155.00
204-252-00 Brabus Quad fog light kit $725
I'd go with that over OEM if I had to dish out $2k for OEM bumper.
