Noticeable lag when switching from Reverse to Drive
Brand new MB C300 owner here - picked up a 2010 with 14K miles on it over the weekend and I'm absolutely head over heels in love with it!
I did notice something kind of strange though after driving it for a couple days now - there seems to be about a 3 second lag after I shift from reverse to drive and hit the gas before the car actually responds. When I put the car in drive and hit the gas, nothing happens. There isn't any sputtering, weird noises, or anything like that - it's almost as if the gas pedal just doesn't do anything (despite being pressed down) until 3 seconds after the shift into drive has been made.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Is it normal for this car? I do have the autolock feature engaged, so I'm wondering if that could be the culprit.
Thanks so much for your help!

Is the delay actually the transmission changing gears? My C would take about 3 seconds to shift from park to reverse. I took it to the dealer and there was a software update for the transmission which resolved the problem. Regardless, it's under warranty so I'd let the dealership have a look at it. Best Regards,
Ben

Thanks guys - I'll see if I can swing by this weekend and get it looked at. Glad to know a couple of you have also experienced it which must mean I'm not totally out of my mind...

That's sort of where I stand. Not totally sure if it's the way the car is supposed to function or if it's me being impatient, but being that a couple folks said there was a software update, I think it makes sense to at least go and inquire / get it checked out.

Yep. As others have stated, it's a well known problem. Even though the lag seemed like only a few seconds it felt like eternity when parallel parking with people waiting behind you. Software update=easy fix.

I went today and scheduled a appointment for the update. I talked with a service advisor first and she already knew what I was talking about and said there is a update for this
