Dyno Results - Totally Stock & with Renntech Airbox

OK guys, finally took my car to get a baseline dyno. Here's a pic of my car all hooked up.

I got runs with two configurations:

Config 1:

Totally Stock - except with resonator delete.

Config 2:

Removed stock airbox and replaced with Renntech C/F Airbox with Green filters.

Here's the chart with the best stock run and the best Renntech run.

I'm assuming that the Renntech guys will be happy with the results--just like when Hooley did his E55/Renntech airbox comparison.

That's good, but did you check what state your stock filters were in before doing this?

I'll hopefully be adding a 3rd dyno soon verifying the performance improvement
of the Renntech box over the stock airboxes. Then, there should be little doubt that this actully does live up to Renntech's claims! Thanks for posting that. This is what we need more of -- forum members doing independent tests and cutting through any bull claims..

Did your stock air box have a Green Filters on it? I would call it fair comparison if you had Green Filters on both boxes

Nice numbers. We had a C55 with RENNtech box put down 303/312 and that same day a N/A E55 with resonator delete put down 305/317. Those 55 motors are awesome.

Both the stock filters and the Green filters had about 5K miles on them.

Good point, the stock airbox did not have the Greenies in it. Darn.

Thanks man. The guys at Fabspeed are great. They happen to have a set of M113 Kleemann headers in stock. Just my luck!

If they both had around 5K miles on them like you said then I think all things are pretty much equal. The fact that you had one with stock and one with green filters I think is pretty much irrelevant IMO. I'm more inclined to believe its all Renntech airbox as hooley had demonstrated previously...

NNo matter what aftermarket air filters are more free flowing then stock filters I tested new stock filters at the track a few years ago and best time with same condition and same driver with cooling period inbetween was the aftermarket filters.

Feel the power of the dark side...

Well you just took the first step down that slippery slope, lol. Soon you will be calling Hooley for kompressor installation tips and watching the ads for totaled E55's, lol. Them C55 V8's do sound sweet. Have fun!

So I wonder now...I cant find a Renntech box for sale-and I'm not sure I REALLY want to fork over that much for an intake....think I could dismantle and "upgrade" the stock box? I'm thinking of removing these fins everyone speaks of...but I'm sure in stock form they serve a purpose with the stock box-anyone try that? I need a reason to use a cutoff wheel on my Dremel.

If you want, I have brand new VRP W211 E55 AMG Air Boxes (with filters) that are made to fit the C55/CLK55/SLK55....
