Illinois is the same (currently) although there is a HB that is pending to allow not less than 50% for the two front sides adjacent to the driver if the backs are not tinted and 35% if the backs are tinted!! That has been passed BUt not yet been signed into law by Gov Quinn !! If it goes unsigned, it is law after 90 days!! Anyway, the rule here in IL is that side window tints (drivers and passenger fronts) will get you a ticket. Here, the cops love to write for tints!! I say why aggravate them????
