C55 Leaking Tranny Fluid

Ok so im kind of freaking out. I left my house as normal this morning and about 15 minutes later my brother calls me and says, "Your car is leaking tranny fluid, theres a good size puddle in the driveway. Well !@#$!@#!@#!!!

I jacked it up and looked under it and it seems like it is leaking out of a the side bc the fluid has dripped down onto the bottom on one side of the pan, but not the other. Someone help?

Common problem. Mine showed up first month of ownership. There is a quiet "recall" on this part. Get it to the dealership, should be covered.

Its a real common problem. My SL55 did the exact same thing about a year ago. Its the Tranny Sensor that has a leak in its housing.

If under warranty no worries. If not have them do a Tranny Service on your 5 speed. It will include a flush and the part for about $ 300.00.

Other wise the part and labor alone are about $ 200.00

And if your really good they will pick it up. I tried but its not a full recall.
There are 2 different color sensors. Cant remember which is good and bad.

The problem is when its a small leak and the fluid gets to the harness and really causes serious damage. Consider yourself lucky if its just the sensor.

FYI

I have been through this before with my 2 out of warranty cars
Recalls are covered by Mercedes either in or out of warranty.
TSB`s are not covered if car is not under warranty.

And depending on how many miles you have on your tranny.
I would suggest a flush at 50K miles anyway.
It really helped my SL55 shift much better afterward.

Yea thanks man! Im going to see how much they want to do it, if it is what they said they think they it should only be somewhere between 200 and 300 dollars. I figure i can do that ha. But if they want an arm and a leg ill definitely give you a shout. Btw we still need to meet up in the boro one night and get a few beers or something!

Ill update tomorrow after the dealer calls me.

The part is called a 13 pin connector it is about $20.00 part and 1qt at about $13.00. it takes about 10 min to fix. a blind man with no fingers can do it.

My 02 C32 is also leaking oil from underneath the car. Do you guys think that it could be the same problem? I notice that my tranny is shifting weird and today I noticed a puddle of oil underneath the car. I am getting a little worried and am just wondering if it is the same problem as the C55.

If you can give us a diy with photos that would be great. Also, can you tell us where you got the part from? I am having some oil leaks from underneath the car and want to get it taken care of asap. Thanks in advance.
