Picking up a C32 tomorrow AM

Hey--
I've been reading this site for about a month or two as I have been shopping for a new ride. I have been looking into hi-performance 4 drs sedans for quite a while and am happy to say that I am picking up a 2002 C32 AMG w/ 22k mi, blk w/ blk lthr, nav....fully loaded. This will be my first MB.

I am soooo pumped; I am sure you fellas know that feeling the night before you get a new ride. I wont be able to sleep tonight. I test drove the car last weekend and loved all 5 miles of my drive. I stomped on it once or twice but never really got on it too hard, but I could feel the potential!

Anyway, I am sure this will be my first of many posts on this board being that I am a do-it-yourselfer and that engine bay looks like a jigsaw puzzle. I looked at it for an hour before I figured out that it doesn't have a dip stick (am I right or just crazy). First accessory I am purchasing will be a shop manual, if they even exist that is. It seems like MB doesn't want there owners touching these cars, why else would you make a car w/o a dip stick.

Look forward to chatting in the future.

your are right there isnt a dipstick. and thats is because benz doesnt want you to mess with their cars!!!!

anyways welcome to the board there are tons of mods to do, some that are moderately priced.

Check what options there are
Hopefully yours will have bi-xenons and nav (not such a great feature)
First thing you would want to do is get a set of lowering springs/shocks or coilovers. Then you can do pulley, tune, & Code 3 intake. RIms will be the finishing touch. Look up my pics to see what can be done to the AMG.

Make sure it doesnt have the coolant leak in the supercharger or tranny. Do a tranny flush to see if it is contaminated. A fix for this is the upgraded radiator (do a search) Go one step further and give the tranny its own oil cooler.

Electronics gremlins abound but none that cant be fixed easily. Most annoying is the tranny jerk at 1500K at low throttle. Machine gun door lucks and battery draining seat modules may pop up.

Ive always argued that the things (minus the AMG Tranny jerk)that go wrong with C32s also go wrong with C Class Cars. And the cost to fix them is the same.

Final advice, Use the search button it will find everything you ever ask of it

Congrats on the new car. You can get the factory shop manual from here: http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/sit...uct/P270020307 It's in DVD form. I got the manual for my CLK and wouldn't work on it without it.

Update

Got the car yesterday and am very pleased with it although the auto trans will take some getting used to.

My buddy who drove me to get it in my old car was following me home on the NJ Turnpike at about 85-90 (for those who dont know the speed limit is 65mph but traffic flows at about 75-85mph). Anyway at one point i hit the shifter down twice and punched it an was doing 120 + in the blink of an eye. My friend said he could not believe how fast i took off. Thats what its all about for me!!
