If you've ever seen the Ken Block Gymkana video, that is exactly where it was shot. So, yes, someone did have fun doing donuts there.

Hey, boo. We wish you could have been there to. You would have taken the prize for the longest commute though. Time to update your location in your MBW profile?

AMG had 3 models for us to drive. splinter and I got there early enough to get extra runs in before MB rationed the laps.

We drove the C63 (twice), the E63 and the SL63.

The C was my favorite....by far.

Nice event. Thanks for all the pics. When do we get one of these on the east coast?? I liked the pic of the old Benz steering wheel with the two control levers in the center. One for the carb with "Slow and Fast" and one for the ignition timing with "Retarded and Advanced" (sort of reminds me of the class groupings at my last track day, lol). I was surprised that the labels were all in English. I guess it was an export model.

What was you impression of the E63 handling compared to the C-Klasse? I have heard that that the E's front suspension is better, dbl wishbone? and may be less prone to push in slow tight corners? What is the hp rating on the E63? is it higher than the C? or the same? Just asking.

OK, I can't compete with MJ's or Phil's photographic skills. Thanks guys, those were some great shots of the event.

I do have another video, of Phil's drive in the C63 here. Since it is shot from such a distance, you really don't quite experience just how fast he was going.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVTEwybe7Uk

Irish, it was just my opinion that the E63 felt heavy and slower than the C63. The C was more tail happy but it felt lighter and MUCH stronger than my C32. The E might have been set for the daily driver mode instead of the sport mode for my drive. As I came out of the last turn, I mashed the accelerator and got nothing back. The C is rated at 457hp while the E is 516hp, I believe. The weight difference between the two cars seems to negate the hp advantage of the E.
