My thoughts: you already have an M5 which is 99% as fast at the CTS-V. Why take a hit on selling it? What about a nice Dinan S2 package?
I hope you are right about continued production on the Caddy.
My M5 is a lease, which ends May 2010. Got it 5/2007. Wish I could have leased it now, would have gotten a great deal on it

You're right TA,... I landed on the Caddy. I entered this day with just as much confusion as the day I started this thread,... and the more I learned of each ride, the more confusion I seemed to be faced with. I think they noticed this also, and in the end I believe it played to my advantage. By the time I sat down with their Sales GM and finance guy, they were ready much poised to sweeten the numbers, especially after I spent the last couple days riding around in their cars. Well, I woulda had a Benz at my disposal anyway so long as my 32 was in for service. But the numbers tipped me over,... I know, I had earlier said it wasn't about the number. Well that was because I had originally budgeted for an AMG, so it wasn't like I was gonna pay any more than I had planned to. Long story short, I ended up paying not that much more than what I would have paid for a loaded C350 Sport!

Essentially, they built in a full 18 months of BMW style cash in the trunk for scheduled service,... well not quite but close. They also extended my On Star sub for 5 years and XM (radio, weather & traffic) for 3. Extended the free destination promo, which I apparently just missed. Twelve vouchers to get the car detailed at the dealership over the next year, each including a tank of 93 octane. Oh,... a set of CTS-V Winter Mat and three brushed aluminum CTS-V travel cups LOL!

Seriously though, this isn't a bad vehicle, and above all, I'm convinced it's much more than the run of the mill American car. No equal to the lineage of the AMG. Any carbaord? No! Delicious? Yes!

I'm fairly pleased with my decision today,... I pray I'll be please by the end of this coming summer! I feel I still have a place at the table on this board,... I'll have to go back to the W203 though. But that might change in the not too distant future also. With what I paid for this, the C63 will be in reach before I realize it. Besides, the wife was pretty much like me,... the V was more exciting, but the Benz felt like a safer bet to her. So towards the end of the 2010 year, you may see me here again. Gonna take some pic, if you guys are interested I'll post them.

Again, I want to thank everyone for their 2 cents and experiences.

Oh,... almost forgot. This thing is a beast! Now that it's mine, I have no hesitation puttin my foot into its ass. I'm already searchin' the net for good prices on Pilot Sports. Got a feelin' I'm gonna burn through these in the next couple days LOL! One more thing I learned today, the dynamics of the exhaust system on the V actually changes above 3k under WOT. Learned that today from the Caddy presenter,... some guy they've hired to explain the car to you as he gives you your keys. A mechanical Jekyll and Hyde exhaust system livin' in there somewhere,... imagine that!

Sure, I'm game for some pics. Congrats on the new ride.

Hope you made the right decision. Sounds as if you did purchase largely due to the financials. Not sure what you mean by the C63 will be in reach before you realize it. I thought you previously said you had budgeted for the C63. Maybe you mean running both the V and the C63? That's not a bad combo.

If you can, please put of some youtube vids as well.

Have fun!

I'm sure you will enjoy the V. It really is a great car. A friend of mine has one and he went from an M6 to the V and is loving it.

GM WILL be going through bankruptcy sooner or later.Their actual real estate ownership is why the stock is trading like it is.

All this financial BS and how each of us feel about it is a separate issue. IMO, how can you purchase a car that was just built on an assembly line where the average worker has NO idea of his/her future?

Is the V a good car. Not like an MB- take a REALLY close look. Fit and finish. actual attention to detail.

GM took OUR MONEY. THAT money is already pissed away. Cadillac-enjoy if you please.

So cupholders, $50 matts, a dirty car wash aside what did the actual car cost?

I am not American adverse - but am very curious. If you would, list, final paid price would be great.

TIA - and anjoy it no matter what all us naysayers will tell you. I am holding out for an E63 coupe!

That's exactly what I mean. The plan here in was always to end up two cars along our aging Acura MDX. This is just round 1. Then in round 2 to lose the 32 and/or MDX and pick up a set of cheaper utilitarian wheels, maybe another MDX or one of those new GLK's. I don't know,... I was just thinking out loud that maybe the savings would allow us to accelerate that. OR, maybe even step up with the next purchase. You're right, a C63 and a CTS-V ain't a bad combo, but a little redundant, especially if you only got two rides. Now if I figure out a way to keep the 04 MDX,... uhmmm!

Anyway, thanks for the congrats. I plan on taking plenty of pics this weekend, but I'll prolly post them in the C32/C55 room since I got a funny feeling I won't be welcome here any more. I'll post a link here if I really gotta move.

Man, you guys have been great.

I had a strong feeling you'd go with the Cadillac!

Enjoy your ride, and don't be a stranger on the forum!

Oh, and please do post the photos of your new car here. I think most of us would love to see them.

I demand pictures! I am glad you're a true car enthusiast who can look beyond the brand and see what a car the CTS-V really is.

Yeah, someone else said something similar to me today. Earlier, I drove it over to a friend's to show off a little. Not too long ago, he picked up an '09 M3. I was one of his show-off stops, so I thought I'd return the favor. Now he's a definite BMW fan boy, and he was impressed. So that made me feel good. Took him for a ride on Route 108 (a nice rural road with decent challenges) and he was really impressed,... so was I. Took I95 back to his crib and just abused one of the on-ramps! His eyes got as big and pig nuts. Dropped out of warp, and pulled over to let him take it in. Back at his place, we popped the hood and just stood there looking at the plant. Occasionally, we'd move to the interior to play with the radio and the nav stuff. But in short order, we found ourselves standing back at the either the grill or the opposing front fenders, just looking at the engine. We stood there until his wife called us in,... the pizza was ready.

I plan on taking a lot of pics this weekend

I think I can speak for most of us, we did consider the CTS-V at one time or at the very least were looking at it closely. Please feel welcome to post all your pictures here along with your personal feelings /details of your New ride on our C63 forum... Once again Good Luck!!!

58K, not a bad deal.
That's good to know, because I know the list is around 67K loaded, as you listed above.
It's a great market to be looking for a car right now!

Enjoy...

Thanks Multispeed. Oh you'll see much of me over in the C32/55 room. I'm starting to think I may be wanting to do some more modding on the AMG now. Did a pully kit 2 summers ago. Might wanna do some more, like wheels and a drop. Maybe even a LSD. Don't know yet,... so I will be spending some time over in the W203 world.
