***P30 Discontinued****

As some people have been asking about a new package its true...

I got a mb netstar news release 2 days ago and called a buddy down in mbusa just to confirm

As of december 09 the P30 performace package has been gone away.
Dont worry thought what they are coming out with blows it away.

The new package is the P31 which includes

*30hp increase to 481
*Lighter Amg Forged pistons
*New lighter Connecting rods
*Revised Crank
*AMG compound Braking System
*Red Brake calipers
*Carbon fiber trunk spoiler
*Top speed limit increased to 174
*Leather/alcantara steering wheel

whats still up in the air is it might come with the 19" wheels not sure yet . At a cost of $5950 its a steal

Also The limmited slip diff is added as a sepreate option cost is $2000 order code is p471..

What has been deleted is basically the suspension because of a few reasons
was customer feed back didnt like the stiffness and track testing ...

Cant wait to see one of these

Too bad we can't retrofit this stuff into our cars.

If true this is very interesting. Not sure about the red calipers on a sedan though, leave those to the two seaters. Also concerned the suspension hasn't been altered-- if current PP was too stiff they should have massaged it not done away with it

I believe we can. Downside is cost for only 31 HP. Trying to get a cost on parts just for fun.

Est $4-5K + 15 -20 hours labour to do the re and re. Ouch

I kinda lost you.. Its not really worth any upgrading with so many after market parts out there. But if you compare the cost of the p30 package to this package its a exceptional value.

And most people who really are looking to track there cars are going for full coil overs anyway.

He's saying the cost for retrofit for those of us without P31 is going to be double cost of the package itself with labor included. There aren't aftermarket parts for our engine internals, but for those that want to strengthen their engine to hold headers, tune, head/cam, etc it's an option.

For those who plan to keep the car for an extended period of time and have significant power adders in place, these would be great for a 75,000 mile overhaul. Be like starting new again.

oh yeah... great point. i might consider that as i plan on keeping my car for a while. i'm not sure if i will ever hit the 75k miles though. i got my car May 2008 and it only has 5500 miles on it.

People got their 2010 in August.

Maybe it is a refresh car for 2011.

If this is true, I'm not too regretful about the purchase of my car. The lighter internals are probably the only good thing about that $5950 package.

The speed delimiter and 30hp increase can be more than compensated for with a $1500 tune, which is much more worthwhile of an investment.

I can do without the red calipers, carbon fiber spoiler, alcantara wheel...and most ppl will never push their cars to the limit that would allow them to feel the benefits of the compound brakes.

I'd rather have the LSD, lighter internals, and throw in the compound brakes plus suspension for $4000.

I just got an email from the Private Lounge confirming the P31. Looks like it's a go for cars built starting in Dec, so it will be a 2010 option.

I figured it would be a far more expensive option. Well done AMG.

On a sad note why must they cancel the suspension. This is a step back to the just give it more power philosophy that gave AMG a poor image in the world of the press and with drivers who enjoyed a spirited drive with bends. I would then have to go for KW's for my C63.

ya win some and ya lose some.

But add that up and to get 19's the LSD and the other luxury options it will be a 76k+ C-Class. At that price go for the E63 with 525 hp and that great transmission. Pushing 80k for a W204 seems outrageous to me.

If you want the "netstar" measage i got dated over 2 weeks ago give me a fax number and ill send it to you. I have been hearing roumors about this for over 6 month from AMG ..
