2007 CL 550 Comand Upgrade

Can I upgrade the Comand System on my 2007 CL 550 so that it has all the features of the 2008 models? I'm in Los Angeles, Calif.

Yeah its just a simple software update.Take it to the dealer and tell them to update COMAND under warranty. Most will do it, I had the folks at Laguna Niguel update The S550 and S600 to the latest COMAND revision.

i heard w/ the update you may lose the back up camera capabilities. is this true?

I had mine upgraded and did not loose any rear view camera capability. The 3D view, is however a major step back, especially when you are navigating

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. You just need to break his balls a little bit to get him to visit your MB.
After much pointed cajoling and a fruitless trip to another dealer (who initially indicated they could do the upgrade but ended up doing squat) I was able to arrange a super double-secret upgrade of my 2007 CL 550's Comand system to the 2008 version which includes live traffic. Did not lose any existing functionality. My guess is that the resistance I encountered has everything to do with the dealers not wanting to be inundated with folks looking to upgrade as it may be a disincentive to buy a new vehicle sooner rather than later to acquire the latest technology.
