sound 8 AMG not that slow
Well I picked my car up this morning, new plugs, filters and new cats.(CL65)
Straight away the car feels crisper, it has more puff at high revs. I am not going to say incredible, unbelievable , cos you would not believe me, and it looks like an excuse. However I reckon there is 20-30 or more increase in HP. It does feel more like 612bhp the trouble is it's so smooth and quiet it fools you into thinking your not going that fast, everyone knows more noise makes it feel like your going quicker. I love this car However that damn traction light is flashing more so there must be extra, and I am not turning it off. I am not sure what has given these improvements, plugs? filters? or cats but the dealer won't commit themselves, and I can't have the old cats, they go back for credit!! I hope now to rule the road. Pictures next. |

If the cats were bad, I guarantee that's where the difference is. When they "delaminate", they are essentially falling apart internally and will seriously restrict exhaust flow. It could easily be a 50+ HP difference or more. Years ago I had a Dodge truck with that issue and it seemed to run fine except for the fact that the 5.9 V8 had the power of a 4 cylinder, really. The truck maxed out at 60-65 MPH, but started and idled as if there was no problem and had no fault codes. You probably wasted your money on filters and plugs.

Very nice collection....TMC M5 never doubted you. What color is your CL65? It looks like Black Opal in that lighting....which is the color of TMC M5's CL65. One more thing...can you do TMC M5 a favor...stop referring to yourself in third person... TMC M5 thanks you in advance... ![]() Tom |

Thanks for the replies, perhaps members who keep slagging me off will realise
I am just a member who loves his cars, and a car fanatic. And Tom I never thought you doubted me, this post was to get creditability. Interesting drive to work in the 65 today, we have bad rain here all year and I had the 65 sideways on several occasions in damp conditions, it feels quite unruly more so than before, and when it hit the dry the acceleration was tearing my head off, traction light seems almost permanently on!!! Maybe it was the cats, I also noticed more bark when I first started, even my wife looked out the door to see what it was. Maybe there is more than 30hp. To many maybe's, I know. I should have rolling road it first, that would tell you. Any way looks like I am having to get use to a slightly different car, now bring on that M3..no,no only joking!!!!! I have looked in my log book, it just says grey. It is like a metalic flint grey not black with tan leather. Last edited by sound 8; 09-04-2008 at 10:24 AM. Reason: addition |

It looks a little too dark to be Flint Grey.... it looks closer to Tectite...but I have never seen a Tectite CL65...it is beautiful regardless of the color. Any more pics? Tom |

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you put your name (Sound 8) in every title of every post you ever make? Seems a bit redundant.

Thanks!!
I like black and dark Grey's but always try to get a light interior with natural or black wood for contrast. Unfortunately most people have black with black interior, suppose it doesn't show the dirt!! |

Yes I love the tan leather with the wallnut wood trim, it amazes me how so many people go with the black leather and the brushed steel trim...
Did you buy your cars brand new or used? I usually prefer new cars because you can have them the way you want, but the 65 engines are very expensive!! |

12k on the clock and 2 years warranty. It's funny because it's mint condition and I don't want perking dents or stone chips yet I want to use it every day. The only time black with black and chrome inside works is in the SL55 in my opinion. What colour and interior is your S55, why not post some pics. |
