Your engine is worth thousands of dallars.
Take the vehicle to a dealership or a qualified independent repair shop and have them show you how to properly determine whether your CL needs oil or not. Then, make sure to keep your oil level maintained properly, and note the mileage that it takes for the engine to consume a quart of oil. it will be one indicator of the general health of the engine. You own a very complex, expensive machine that requires proper routine maintenance. If you don't maintain it, it can lead to extremely expensive repairs. JDB |

I broke out the manual. The engine has to be off at least 5 minutes before the oil measurement will begin if at operating temperature otherwise it is 30 minutes. I was down 2 quarts to maximum fill. Interesting that the add one quart warning is triggered at this level. I added Mobil 1 0W40 and remeasured after starting the engine. All is well.

Nice to know that there is a low oil sensor. Seems these cars have a sensor for everything!

That's odd, since I specifically called a foreman in our NJ MB service to verify that and he stated that 0W40 is used on all AMG's. I had him fill in the maintenance slip specifying the oil and sign it, since I also thought 5W40...

https://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English...l_1_0W-40.aspx Mobil 1 5W40 is MB 229.51 and 229.31 compliant. This is Mobil 1 ESP formulation. Check it out at: https://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English...a_M_5W-40.aspx
