Get a second opinion from another dealer or independent shop.
1700 for belt and tensioner?

They said they need to change 3 AIR struts? Dont all AMG cars have struts that operate using oil?

I could be mistaking but the Benz dealer mentioned 3 rear shocks at $1500 a piece .

not only amg... 600's have it too..

only CL,SL, S-class.. with 55,65,600.

the rest is airmatic..

did they say why all three abc strut need to be replace..three strut goes bad/leak at once...that sound like rip off..technician recommend even though it not even bad..recheck with a mercedes specialist...12k..might as well sale your car..

Go to an independent MB certified ASE mechanic...you will save money on labor there. You can also look for the parts yourself and save money there...

Yeah, my comment is that that is ridiculous. Tensioner and belt (if it is what I am thinking) should be about 20% of $1700, installed. The ABC pump with install cost me around 3500 from dealer. Looks like they need some money and business wherever you went. With a bill at about 1/2 the value of the car, doesn't exactly seem reasonable to me. Definitely get some second opinions, but if the car is undriveable, you don't want to be towing it around to too many places, so check with other RECOMMENDED independent mb mechanics, because sometimes those indie's can end up doing more harm than good and charge you just as much. Definitely worth doing some homework over. No extended warranty on that thing? The tensioner would not be covered, but the abc pump is covered for sure and I believe the shocks would be covered as well (but not 100% on that).

cl55 repair bill

Yeah, I do have an extended warranty on it and they approved the bill, cause Benz dealer told them that they only guarantee MB genuine parts and that's why they cost a lot of money, so Benz make ridiculous amount of money on parts, it's a rip off. But I heard that there are after market parts that are very compatible with Benz genuine parts and cost about 20% of the dealer's price.
Thanks for the comments guys....

cl55 repair bill

It has only 50,000 miles on it and the dealer said that the shocks are leaking and need to be changed along with ABC pump.
Any body knows how to install a phone in it?

i would go an independent

after the warranty co. gets stung by this $12k repair... the 55's will be off limits to future buyers for warranties.....as the 65's are becoming

in other words the dealer will make about $8k on this deal...those parts mentioned are 25% of the cost the said

Search for viseo, a unit that fits in your cradle and bluetooths to your phone allowing full use of comand/dash/steering wheel controls.

Hey, any updates? My CL is also in the shop right now getting the full $300 inspection done. Hopefully I won't get a 12 grand repair bill.

Very cool, excellent warranty company. Was this an aftermarket warranty? If so, which one?

I had an electrical fire that took out the main wiring harness in the engine compartment (10 years ago on my S600 coupe) - warranty company paid about the same.

I am living life on the edge. I have no warranty 2005 cl55. 60000 miles and still going strong. Can you get a warranty for a cl55 with that many miles and how much?

2003cl55 warranty

I'am paying about $2400 for 3yr. contract with unlimited mileage for 2003 cl 55 with 52,000 miles.
I think this is the best extended factory warranty for the cl55 that you will ever find out there.

Keep in mind that overall the extended warranty companies are probably making money off of us---either that or they have screwed up their pricing structure. I don't have a warranty and am just chancing it. 82k on my '04.

Nice TigerWild, I just bought mine and it was $2476 for 3yr 36.000 miles, which was plenty as this is a second car. i'm worried about what I will do when it comes time for that 3/36k to expire. maybe I will trade in on a 2007/08 around then. The car is just too exspensive to repair to not have a warranty on it! may go for the CL63's then, but i still like the design of this one better than the current ones.
