Drove latest VRP850 CL done by Motorwerks Detroit

Haven't been around too much these days, but I did have the pleasure of driving the latest version of the VRP850 program installed on an 05 CL65. Can't say there were many opportunities to really open it up, but man, this thing was violently fast. What was most amazing, perhaps, was that from 120-180 or so the car seemed to have accelerated quicker or as quick as it did from 40-100! Pretty unbelievable.
From what I understand, the mustang dyno pulls Motorwerks did had this car running @ 10.5 with some crazy trap speed. I haven't personally seen the charts so don't quote me, but word is that upgrade has got the motor seeing close to 900hp at the crank! Pretty insane! Well, I thought I'd share my driving experience with you, it surely was and is the fastest Mercedes I've ever driven, do you think @ 10.5 it's the fastest 65 out there? I saw a youtube VRP car run 10.7, has anyone ran better than this? Ugh, what a ride....

Not bad....I think Marko and I are the only CL's with the 10.7's out there. Well at least only him now since I have sold my CL and the package. It is definitely a violent car after 100.

+3 This entire stories odd I don't doubt the car exists etc.. But it's no doubt a customers car & you're telling us they let you drive it for the 1st time to 180mph no less If you've never driven a car remotely this powerful (judging by your sig)

I said there weren't alot of chances to really open the car up? I don't understand what everyone is nitpicking? Agreed, its not a 10.5 car till its been tracked, but okay, didn't we know that?

And yea, a customer of Motorwerks, I, uh, don't sell anything. That customer happened to be a close friend of mine, who sent it up there because I told him I thought he would enjoy it based on what I saw from some others who already had it on the board. So yea, I was able to beat it up and enjoy it a bit.

So based on my sig, or whatever you think about what VRP would think about me driving it (how would you know what VRP thinks anyway?) is pretty much a weak attempt to discredit the fact that, what? - I drove the car hard and got it up just a push under 180 1st timeI drove it? I don't understand your need to even dispute that in the first place? Or find any correlation btwn that and whether you, or other people, would think I was qualified to drive that car? Who cares?

I'm trying to share my thoughts on how I thought the car was. It seems like your trying to be some type of VRP authority or VRP forum police, criticizing and questioning everything I've said. What are you trying to prove?

Either way, the car was amazing and well worth the wait. I'm looking forward to the next stage from VRP because I'm sure my friend will send it back up to Motorwerks once it becomes available.

Also, I'm trying to get my friend down to Englishtown so we can actually get some real times on this car. Maybe some of you in the NJ/NY/CT area have some MBs or others that would give it a good run. That'd be fun to watch, maybe someone who is savvy can bring some video equip and pop it up on you tube?

My VRP825 which was installed 3 weeks ago supposedly put out 790 crank but my dyno was 530 rwhp. It turns out that VRPs dyno was a dyno dynamics. So they took their dyno reading of 525 and multiplied it by 1.2 because rumor is that dynojets are 25% higher( That is not correct--long story). Anywho...1.2 x 525=630. They used 20% parasitic loss, so now they had 790 crank... Well my dynojet was 530 three days ago on a nice cool day. Conclude what u want! Another point to make....129 thru the mile does not equate to 900 crank. Speed should be around 140+. I realize that there are 2 900 hp v12TT but the numbers dont add up for me.
Certainly would love to see what they do on my dyno, same day. Apples to apples.
Texas mile would put an end to a lot of this. Weight has almost no bearing in a mile race and so I would love to see these 900 hp benzes do 190+, because thats exactly what they should do thru the mile easily if indeed they are putting 700 rwhp.
No disrespect meant to those 2 members...just my 2c.

Tell your friend to bring the car to MIR on the 30th (next friday). I have it rented out. And if your friend wants to line up with some decently fast cars there will be a good selection

Best T/M was 177.
I had this car at the 1/4 drag once and it was partially wet, regular tires, 46 PSI, lowest suspension settings n did 120 but that was WITHOUT vrp kit.

By the way last week I did another dyno run without ice but in dyno mode and we had 550 rwhp, still low but better. Car is having Waste gates checked for proper adjustment right now. Once we figure out how to get the car to the "expected" 600+ rwhp, we will start the turbo swap project.

*** FYI to all: If u plan to attend the T/M next year, get your car taped (blue tape) or covered with film, or u will chip the hell out of it, as I did. Also, multiple runs at very high speeds seem to rip the hell out of the panels underneath and the ones around the wheel wells. So check them very carefully. Often times during the removal and reinstallation, they are not put back on EXACTLY right. Too long to explain so just PM me if u need more info.

Care to elaborate a little more on this...it was something I was contemplating on the 65 but just couldn't find proper turbo and cost was going to be astronomical. I think it's the way to go

Not much more i can say at this point but give me a couple of month n will share much more. This will be the 2nd time the engine comes out in 4 months. First attempt was a failure and a wasted 4k. 2nd time is a charm...hopefully?

So, quick update for you guys... My buddy was able to get to a dyno yesterday and even remebered to bring his vid camera so as soon as I get the files from him I'll upload for you. He told me the conditions weren't optimal but the car put down its best @ 590 rwhp! Not bad, right?? Its obviously not 850 crank, although that'd be nice, as it is a VRP850, thats what they told us anyway, but 590, not bad!

I'll get these vids of the dyno pulls for you probably by the end of the day today. I've got to get him to transfer the video clips to the computer so that may take a bit of kniving, but, I'm confident you should have them shortly to have a look at.

Soul, you were saying something about the 2nd stage upgraded turbos, are you going to go ahead with the next stage? Does your car and my buddies have the same setup currently? I see your calling it something else?

Something is definitely wrong with that car...My car put out 580 rwhp with reservoir and cat delete, open cut outs and Ice...no tune and IC's.

He should datalog his IAT's asap, My car trapped only 2mph slower than Markos but ran a faster ET of 10.72...his car dynoed back to back 700rwhp which would only tell me my car put out close to the same power range.

Actually Marko's best ET was a 10.723s @ 128.75 mph at MIR. His best trap was on the 10.734 @ 130.76mph run.

I am actually going by what's on drag times but thanks for the clarification. The point is times were nearly identical so should the power levels.
