HELP !!! wiper / rainsensor CLK 430 / yr2000

Hi All,

Im new to the board and New to Merc. I recently purchased a 2000 430 clk... Mint condition. Im very happy with it except for one thing..... Everytime i start the car, the wiper blade activates for one wipe... Also, my wiper control arm is set to "0" and yet still the rain sensor is active... This is really frustrating... Ive tried unplugging the rain sensor to deactivate it (right behind the r-view mirror) and when I do so, the wipers go into intermittent mode.. Crazy... So my question... What the heck can I do to solve this problem...
1. My windshield is spotless (people have been telling me to clean my windshield)
2. The wiper control arm has settings ii i 0... 0 is to deactivate the wiper completely... I have it at 0, but sensor/wiper is still active...
3. The wiper swings everytime I start the car....sigh.......

Please someone help me out.... How can I disable the rain sensor completely?? Or, can I reset the computer (how do I do that)...? Is there a software upgrade for this model that a Benz dealer can assist with? I just dont want to be charged an arm and a leg for this service, hoping there is a quick fix.... thanks

I may be able to get some more details but if you wish they can be turned off in STAR

The other thing that you could do is to wash the stalk switch with a good non drying switch cleaner

thanks for the quick reply... Pardon my ignorance, what is STAR and what is Stalk Switch?
If the stalk switch is the wiper control arm with the ii i o on it, how do I take that appart without breaking it...?

400$ later everything is working great...
Im driving home from the dealership happy that Im finally not being hypnotized anymore by the wiper when I notice for some reason, my power windows auto close doesnt work anymore... On my driver AND passanger side....lol..SIGH...... dont know what they did at MB, but they did something... Maybe an ECU reflash messed it up... Who knows... will call them on Monday....

Send a message via AIM to CurYousGee
just reset your windows, they disconnected the battery when they fixed your car, once they did that, windows need to be reset

When sync'ing the windows do not push the button all the way down, second click, only push and hold until you get to the first click. When the window get's all the way to the top or bottom then fully push and hold the button for 2-3 seconds.

If this doesn't reslove it then you might have an issue with your control or window regulator or your car doesn't have that feature. What year is your car anyway?
