Totally Random Question

I banged my 1999 W208 front passenger side wheel into a median in Colorado (don't ask how that happened...). I had to get the A arm replaced and whatever else straightened etc. Problem is, when I got the car back the break light only worked when the headlights were off...my service shop said that it was a faulty headlight control - does that make sense? My old shop said the part is under 200 bucks. He spared me my $500 deductible...thoughts?

I've since moved to Texas and have a company car so I've kept her parked except the weekends.
