my 430 was doing this, went to the shop and it was low on fluid, cleared the codes and corrected fluid level and it was cured.

The tranny will hold in first gear longer when the weather is cold so that the cats could warm up faster. As far as slipping, it may be low on oil. Thats the first thing I would check.

Theres a difference between transmission slip, and what you are describing. Most modern cars do hold first gear a lot longer when really cold in order to warm the emission systems up as quickly as possible. Once warm though the transmission should shift smoothly and consistently at lower RPM's. That being said, if you have never replaced your transmission fluid, and you have 60k+ miles on it, you should definately consider replacing it. And remember, a transmission drain and fill is NOT the same as a transmission flush. Make sure you know what you are paying for!!! |

Is a tranny fluid change recommended on the 2000+ models as well? I thought that this gearbox was maintenance free and sealed?
My car has travelled 90.000 miles and i doubt anyone has looked at the tranny if it's stated in the manual that it doesn't need to be looked after.
