2000 CLK 430
W208 v. W209 Wheel compatibility
Couldn't find this specific answer while searching, so here's a fresh thread.
I have a 2000 CLK 430, with a broken OE wheel (pothole in NJ at 80), and it hasn't been easy to find just a front to replace it with. Yes, I can just buy a new one, but then it'll look a lot nicer than the 3 old ones.
Just ran across a Craigslist posting for a set of OE AMG wheels off a 2003, a W209 car.
Will they fit? I'm looking for specs online, but it's slow going. Figure someone on here can answer this in their sleep.
And I like OE wheels on these cars, that's why I haven't gotten a full set of aftermarket wheels.
Appreciate the help.

I had a cracked wheel as well and was going to buy a set of 16" W209 wheels that I found on Craigs list (where I found lots of wheels for sale locally).
Although these were also 16" wheels, the W209 wheels were staggered (8" rear and 7" front) vs. all 7" on my W208. I did my homework and found that they would have worked however, the front and rear tire sizes would be different.
In addition to wheel off-set, an important consideration is that the new tire/wheel diameter must be equal or within a small percent of the original total tire/wheel diameter (e.g. keeps all the related senors working properly with the on board computer).
In the end, I just had the small crack welded for $75.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
My CLK has 1" wider wheels in the back. They're the 17" AMG wheels, and the 2003 are also 17", so as long as the widths are the same, tires will be fine. I am concerned about offset though.

Thought the CLK430 wheels were staggered, but wasn't sure.
Just ask the seller what his off-sets are (they are stamped into the inside of the hub).
The following link might help.

2000 CLK 430
Thanks for the hint. After a bit of searching, I found a site that has all kinds of owner's manuals in .pdf form. I found the manuals for both cars (I have the OM for my car, but I photocopied it from a friend who had a 1999, similar, but not the same).
My 2000 CLK 430:
Front:
AMG light alloy, 7 1/2 J x 17 H2
Offset 1.46" (37mm)
Rear:
AMG light alloy, 8 1/2 J X 17 H2
Offset 1.18" (30mm)
Now for a 2003:
This is the same for the CLK 500 and the CLK 55. Covers the 320 with the sport package too, but not the regular.
Front:
7 1/2 J x 17 H2 (EH2 for the 55)
Offset 1.45" (37mm)
Rear:
8 1/2 J X 17 H2 (EH2 for the 55)
1.18" (30mm)
The wheels will be a perfect fit.
Hopefully this will help someone out going forward.
Now I even have a correct OM for my car. Now just gotta play that stupid game of waiting for a Craigslister to respond. Knowing my luck, they're long gone.
Have a good weekend.
