wow that is exactly my situation. I dropped off the car yesterday and today got a call that I need the radiator and a new transmission. Now its waiting time on the extended warranty response. They should cover but who knows, and they might only want to go with a rebuild transmission and not a new one or cover part of the repair. I should know in a few days. The service guy is very nice guy and assures me he will do all he can. Just sit tight and hope it gets covered .... To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Today should tell me the story here
Dairus...they have done the 2 mandatory, obligatory, flushes, and, I am quite sure that they will have to replace the tranny, torque converter and who knows what else....Hmm...Maybe I will tell them I will take a 2008 in trade! Think that would work??

According to the Service Advisor...with the warranty, and, nothing else messed around with by the owner, it should be covered...If not, you will probably hear the explosion! and, then the secondary one by my Hubby!....

My Niece worked for Audi as a SA for a while, and, she says that they will have to warranty any parts that they put in the car ....but...she is not sure for how long....anyway, I am waiting on that phone call....this has been a strange journey! and I am very ready to have it resolved....in my favor of course!

Radiator, tranny and torque converter should be it. You only have to deal with your husband, I have to deal with my wife!!!

Good luck

Ok...another day...another possible solution....now they are trying a transmission control something or other...I think I read in an earlier post from you that you tried this also...and..it didn't work...( sigh)...they do assure me though, that if this control thingy doesn't do it..It is new Tranny time...

Patience was handed out when I was not in line, and, hubby is the same way! Not fun!

Did they do a flush of your car...or just go right to the new tranny and, of course , radiator?

Yes we did try to perform the reset of the trans control module. The trans module has the ability to adapt and some times it adapts the torque converter incorrectly. The only way to test that is to clear out the adaptations. That made the trans run VERY bad. on the test drive I thought the trans was gone. After maybe 10 miles it adopted and started to work fine. Then some time later the shift from 1st to 2nd and down started to go bad. The vibrating sound I mentioned was never effected. It progressively happened more and more often.

For now I'm just waiting on the warranty companies decision. Holding my breath.

I do not know if they flushed it.

That is a nasty wait....is the warranty thru Mercedes? I can't imagine that they would not honor it, if it is.....Although, who knows? I can't seem to get my dealership to commit on it...but...they did say that they would replace the tranny if need be....under the warranty I assume....Of course...I also know what happens to that word!

I am hoping the same results for you.....

GOOD NEWS

Got a call from the dealer and the warranty will cover it all. Radiator, transmission, torque converter and labor. Looks like there was no option for a brand new transmission only rebuild. Will have 2 years of warranty on it.

It would not cover a headrest motor that had burned out and that's a $429 repair. I guess I don't need to play with the headrest that much

Update

Just picked up my car. Took longer as the warranty rep had to come out and then we waited for the transmission. The radiator, transmission and torque converter was replaced. I only drove her home ~ 30 miles and she runs like butter. Hopefully it stays like that. It was a stressful ride and I'm glad I had the extended warranty to cover it. Only cost me a small deductible. Now I can move on to more fun spending like new wheels, spoiler and AMG bumpers. Already got two out of 3 purchased

Congrats on the repairs! I felt the same as you driving home from the dealership. Smooth shifting transmission is back!

Good deal Darius....I picked mine up on Wed...with the same new equipment...( plus a new windshield...but...that was not on Mercedes ...long story) And she runs just great! It was a horrible time when it was all happening...but....it all worked out....thanks to whom ever was watching out for me! She is back together with all new fluids, everywhere, and, I am thrilled to have her back in my garage where she belongs!

Its been a month now and a few hundred miles. I only drive about 8 miles a day to and from the train station. So far so good. Its running very well with no issues. Had the turn signal issue the other day that's well documented and had my mechanic install the socked upgrade kit that fixed the issue. Had him do both sides while he was at it. Hopefully will not have more issues with the car for a while.

Just paid off the car yesterday so now I can start on the mods Never thought I would have such an 'adventure' when I purchased the car almost 4 months ago. With 30k miles on it, Mercedes did not give me a very good impression for quality. Guess had some bad luck

Sorry to hear that Hows your transmission, any shifting issues? If you catch it early enough you should be ok with just the radiator change and flush of the whole system. Where are you at?
