Custom Wing on my W209

About a month or so ago I started designing a 3 piece wing for my clk to give it a more aggressive look. This is the final product on my car. It still need to be polished and waxed.

If there is enough interest I may make a few to sell.

I'll take some more pics without the sun later.

Johnny

Looks good. Do you have any full body pic from the side? Please post it if you have. How much does it cost you? Is the wing at the center the original AMG version?

Custom exhaust

Exhaust pipes look a bit different. Are they? I didn't see any "mods" listed.

Thumbs up Looks nice!!

Very cool design, I like it very much!!

I thought that I would mention for those that don't know**, that that is technically a spoiler, and not a wing. I know that most people think that a wing and a spoiler are one and the same, but they work very differently. A wing is just that, a wing, similar to an airplane in that it uses Bernoulli's principle to produce lift, or when mounted upside down as on a car, to reduce lift.

Spoilers work differently than wings in that they "spoil" the airflow that flows over the car. Most cars suffer aerodynamic lift because they are also effected by Bernoulli's principle. If you look at a car from the side, you can see that air flowing over the top of the car has to flow further than air flowing under the car because of the greenhouse (windshield, windows and roof). Because the air on top of the car has to flow farther, it has to flow faster, which in turn lowers air pressure (Bernoulli's principle). "Spoilers" work by breaking up this fast moving air, which in turn helps to reduce aerodynamic lift...

Best regards,
Matt

** I'm not implying that anyone in this thread wasn't already aware of the difference btween a wing and a spoiler, but I've noticed that a lot of people don't, and I thought that this was as good a time as any to mention it!

The exhaust is the stock AMG exhaust with MH Dezent silencer and tips. The center section of the "spoiler" is a modified AMG piece. I molded the side pieces to the center piece and cut it after for the 3 piece look. The car has stock AMG side skirts, Brabus K8 Front Bumper, Lorinser Roof Spoiler, HRE 547R's and Lowered with Carlsson RS adjustable suspension.

You think we could get a few pictures of the under carriage of the car to see how you did the quad look for your exhaust and also how you did the cutting an molding of the rear bumper.... I want to do the quad look to my car......
